NESDB proposes 3 approaches to deal with “Trump tax”

Exporters suggest using Vietnam model, propose 3 measures to protect exports worth 2 trillion baht, urge government to speed up closing “Trump” tax deal and must reach a conclusion, point out there is no chance of a 3rd round, fear investors will move production bases if Trump insists on collecting 36% tax
Today (9 June 2025), Mr. Thanakorn Kaset Suwan, President of the Thai National Shippers' Council (TNSC) or the Exporters' Council, mentioned the case of Thailand being charged a 36% tariff by the United States, which will be effective immediately on 1 August. The TNSC has sent recommendations for negotiation guidelines and measures to cope with the case that the United States is preparing to charge a retaliatory tariff (Reciprocal Tariff) to the Ministry of Commerce and the Thailand team to use in negotiations, hoping that the negotiation will be able to reduce the tariff collection rate to no more than 20%, equal to competing countries. สล็อต
